Match Report

Team captains were Sam Conway and Elinor Lewis and they lead by example, with Sam enjoying 3 individual first places and Elinor contributing 2 second places, 1 fourth and 1 fifth in addition to both helping their respective 4 x 400m teams to victory.

The final result was a second place overall only 30 points behind the winners Plymouth and Cornwall AC.

The weather held out all day until the very last runner had crossed the finish line in the very last race of the day and it was only a few spots that fell then.

New team members Gareth Winter and Matthew Field both had excellent days with Matthew adding some 7 metres to his PB in the Hammer despite using the heavier implement for the first time.

Mica Moore had an excellent run in the 100m, reinforcing our very strong showing in the sprints in this league.
Indeed we cleaned up in the relays with 3 firsts and a second to finish off a great days athletics.

We enjoyed a formidable 17 first places and 11 second places on the day and the Team Managers Debbie and Julie would like to thank the team for the professionalism shown throughout the day and indeed the excellent conduct shown on the bus.

We look forward to the next match, also at Leamington, on 23rd May when we will hopefully be even stronger with the return of our warm weather training athletes who were not able to make this match.
