Match Report

Cardiff's National Junior Athletic League team gained a narrow victory over South East Wales at Coventry on Sunday last, 27 June.

Cardiff now leads the Avon League with a two point margin over rivals Plymouth and should have done enough, with one round left, to book their place in the promotion match at Derby on 29 August.

The match result was: 1: Cardiff (444 points); 2: SE Wales (432); 3: Plymouth & Cornwall (325); 4: Solihull & Smallheath (264); 5: Coventry (350); 6: Bristol & West (316); 7: Avon SPA (62).

The League position after three rounds: 1: Cardiff (23 points); 2: Plymouth (21); 3: Solihull (17); 4: SE Wales (17); 5: Avon (10); 6: Coventry (9); 7: Bristol (8).

Cardiff's individual event winners were: Tom Knight (100mA & 200mA); Oliver Jeffries (110mH); Jacob Brennan (400mH); Gareth Winter (Discus); Bradley Cole (Hammer). Hannah Clarke (200mB); Lauren Regan (400mB); Elinor Lewis (Pole Vault A); Lucy Daly (Pole Vault B).

Cardiff's ladies also won the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

The leading two clubs after the fourth round will take part in the promotion match and the best two from this match will be promoted to the Midland Premier Division.

Cardiff will want to regain its place in the premier division but this will be a stiff challenge.
