Match Report
Thank you to all team members, officials and supporters who travelled and competed and to those who helped and supported each other in our first Welsh Senior League fixture on Sunday at Swansea. It was great to see such a good field of athletes with a significant team of men in all categories and a number of U17, U20 and Senior women. The weather was glorious, a very slight wind but conditions were nigh on perfect for competition purposes. Performances worthy of note were:
SW
Emily Brown set a new league record of 7:15.60 in the 2000m s/c
U20M
Sam Conway set a new league record of 50.2 s in the 400m
Tom Knight equalled current league record of 10.9 s in the 100m
Thanks to the dedication and number of athletes who turned out for this first fixture, keen to compete after a long winter of training, Cardiff AAC secured second place overall in Division 1 of the League.
The scores were:
Men: Cardiff 701; Swansea 591.
Women: Cardiff 356; Swansea 626.
Combined: Cardiff 1057; Swansea 1217.
The next fixture is Deeside on 15 May. Although we are not taking a team to this fixture due to the distance, team managers are happy to enter any athlete in the competition. Please get in touch if you wish to compete in this fixture.
