Ffion shines in Glasgow

Tuesday 20 July 2010

Cardiff's Ffion Bodilly was the only Welsh winner in the schools international held in Glasgow last Saturday, 17th July. In tricky conditions, Ffion, 15, won the high jump with a leap of 1.70m, only one centimetre short of her personal best of 1.71m, which she set in a Young Athletes League competition and which puts her into equal third place in the current UK under 17 rankings. The picture of Ffion (competing in the Welsh Champiponships) was provided courtesy of DEphoto.

Ffion also set a personal best long jump of 5.21m in Glasgow, although this was aided by a following wind of 3.6m/s.

Also in Glasgow, Jamaul Whyte took a silver medal in the 200m with a 6.2m/s wind assisted 21.7secs. Jamaul placed 4th in the 100m with a fast 10.92secs, again assisted by a 6.0m/s wind.
