Juniors win again
Thursday 10 June 2010
Cardiff's Welsh Under 15 League team travelled to Newport last Sunday, 6th June, for the third round of this year's series and enjoyed another very successful day with numerous winners and new league records.
On a cool but dry day, Cardiff's athletes dominated the under 13 and under 15 age groups, to win the overall competition with a total of 1004 pounts, ahead of Hereford with 732 and Newport with 712.
This league provides athletes with an ideal opportunity for athletes to compete for the club for the first time and two first timers competing yesterday were Claire Taylor (U15girls) and Erin Phillips (U11 girls). The under 15 boys section of the club were the star performers producing many wins and league records between them.
The overall match result was:

In the Under 13 girls' 800m, Cardiff took the first three places (Bethan Register, Anna Mirza-Davies & Elishka Coupar) while, in the Under 15 girls' 75m hurdles, Cardiff took the first four places (Rebecca Foley, Claire Taylor, Lara Durrani & Leonora Foley).
Athletes of the match were Matteo Holmes for his 3 wins out of three events, in Discus, Hammer and Javelin, and Kate Seary for her success in the 1500m that she ran from the front and produced a 7 second P.B. Well done both of you!
