Leila wins the crown

At Cardiff's Oceana on Saturday last, 19th June, Cardiff AAC's Leila James was crowned Miss Cardiff.

She will now be taking part in the Miss Great Britain contest in London in November

Leila competes for the club in the 800m and is also a ski instructor.

She was cheered on in the contest by her family and her boyfriend, Cardiff's international 400m hurdler Rhys Williams.

Her role will be reversed this weekend when she will be supporting Rhys as he takes on the best in Britain in the Aviva UK Championships and European Trials in Birmingham where he will not only be aiming to win but run the qualifying time for the European Championships in Barcelona.

It was Leila who came up with the idea and organised the popular and successful Welsh Athletics (well, Cardiff & Swansea!) 2010 calendar and hopes to produce another for 2011.

We wish Leila the best of luck in London and Rhys the same in Birmingham.
