Vital for Young Athletes

Cardiff's Young Athletes' League team travels to Yeovil on Sunday next, 20th June, for the third of this year's four match series, knowing that the result could decide whether or not they qualify for the regional final in Birmingham on 1st August.

The top four teams will qualify and Cardiff is lying fourth, 41 points ahead of Yate & District AC.

On Sunday,Cardiff will be facing Rugby & Northampton AC, who are comfortably leading the division, and Yate. It is essential that Cardiff finishes ahead of Yate to consolidate their bid for the qualifier.

Despite clashes with examinations, Cardiff team managers Andrew Seary and Vince Jones are hoping to field a strong team but need the supporty of all athletes for this important match.

Captain for the day of the girls' team wil be Swedish athlete Alexandra Wall who is re-visiting Cardiff with her family and who planned the timing of their visit especially so that Alexandra might compete for Cardiff again this weekend.

Boys' captain for the day will be Sam Gordon.

The fourth and final round of the season will be in Yate on 18th July.
