Under 15 League winners

As winners of the Welsh Under 15 league, South East Wales, the Cardiff AAC team travelled to Brecon on Sunday, 23 August for the Welsh League Cup Final.
The team managed a creditable fourth place out of the top eight Welsh clubs behind first placed Carmarthen Harriers. Swansea Harriers were second and Pembroke H third. Carmarthen have won this title on numerous occasions but only narrowly held on to their title, beating Swansea by only 39 points (1154 to 1015).
Cardiff suffered from a shortage of athletes in the under 11 categories but scored well in the under 13 and under 15 age groups.
Notable performances came from George Griffiths and Conor Kidner for the under 13 boys, Adrian Lawrence for the under 15 boys and Maisie Matthews, Ffion Bodilly and Laura Trigg for the under 15 girls.
Cardiff’s individual event winners were:
Under 13 boys: George Griffiths (100m A; Long Jump A); Conor Kidner (100m B; 200m A); John Cove (800m A); Floyd Haughton (Long Jump B).
Under 15 boys: Adrian Lawrence (80m Hurdles B); Jacob Preece (1000m Walk).
Under 15 girls: Maisie Matthews (100m B); Bethan Ellis (800m B); Ffion Bodilly (High Jump A; Long Jump A); Sally Nicholas (Pole Vault A).
Final team result: 1. Carmarthen H (1154); 2. Swansea H (1015); 3. Pembroke H (936); 4. Cardiff AAC (760); 5. Deeside AAC (724); 6. Newport H (598); 7. Hereford AC (590); 8. Menai T&F (555).
