End of season for YAL team

Cardiff's National Young Athletes' League team ended another successful season at the Area Finals in Birmingham on Sunday last, 1st August.

Cardiff finished a respectable sixth in a competition that was dominated by home club Birchfield Harriers.

The match result was: 1. Birchfield (946 points); 2. Rugby & Northants (890.5); 3.Swansea (811); 4. City of Stoke (776.5); 5. Notts AC (729.5); 6. Cardiff AAC (587.5); 7. Cheltenham H (510); 8. Charnwood AC (396).

Cardiff's individual event winners were:

Under 17 men: Jamaul Whyte (100m A & 200m A); Michael Prentice (100m B & 200m B); Eliot Slade (800m B & 1500m B); Nathan Lawrence (100mH B); Matthew Field (Discus A); Tyrone Blake (High Jump B); Ryan Leonard (Shot Put B).

Under 15 boys: Dean Garrison (Javelin B & Discus B); Matteo Holmes (Javelin A).

Under 15 girls: Holly Field (Pole Vault B).
