Presentation Evening - REMINDER Tuesday 7 September 2010

Presentation Evening - REMINDER The club's 2010 annual presentation evening and disco will be held on Sunday next 12 September from 6.30 to 10.00pm.

This annual event is a marvellous opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the past season both for the teams and the individuals who have performed well.

Johnson bidding for title Friday 3 September 2010

Johnson bidding for title Cardiff's in-form Michael Johnson will be chasing his second Welsh road title on Sunday 12th September in the Cardiff 10k which doubles as the Welsh Championship.

Mike (pictured in last year's race wearing No. 0003 with team mate Tom Marshall wearing 0005) took the 5k title in Swansea on 22nd August when he also led Cardiff to the team title.

Junior League team back Sunday 29 August 2010

Junior League team back In a difficult promotion match at Derby today, Sunday 28th August, the club's National Junior League team finished second and regained its place in the Junior League after slipping out last season.

Cardiff's Gareth Winter was named Man of the Match for his winning performance of 51.50m in the Discus.

Cardiff dominate Thursday 26 August 2010

Cardiff dominate Cardiff's Michael Johnson (pictured) was a runaway winner of the Welsh Championship 5k road race held in Swansea last Sunday, 22nd August, and led the Cardiff team to the team title.


Also successful was the club's women's team which, although not including the individual winner, took the team title.


First lady home for Cardiff was Paris Williams in 4th place.

Cardiff second in final Wednesday 25 August 2010

Cardiff second in final Cardiff's team finished a close second to Carmarthen Harriers in the Welsh Junior League final, held in Brecon last Sunday, 22nd August.

After qualifying easily from the semi final held in Cardiff on 7th August, Cardiff was hoping to topple rivals Carmarthen who have won this competition on many occasions.

Ffion is best in Britain Monday 23 August 2010

Ffion is best in Britain Cardiff's Ffion Bodilly took the high jump Gold Medal at the England Athletics Under 17 Championships in Bedford last Saturday, 21 August.


In very difficult conditions for high jumping, caused by a strong and gusting wind, Ffion not only won the competition but set a new personal best of 1.73m and jumped to second on this year's British rankings.


Ffion, coached by Stephen Bailey, is still only 15 so will have a further year in this age category.

Cardiff's men promoted Saturday 21 August 2010

Cardiff's men promoted Cardiff's senior men's BAL team have today gained promotion to the premier division after a nail biting contest at Liverpool.

Sheffield continued their dominance of the Division 1 and, with only 19 points covering second to fifth places, Cardiff finished fifth but this was enough to clinch promotion by one league point from third placed Kent AC.

James Williams confident Friday 20 August 2010

James Williams confident The Cardiff AAC senior men's team can make a small piece of club history tomorrow as the 2010 British League season comes to a climax in Liverpool by winning promotion to the premier division of the British League.


With two to be promoted, the club stands second on 20 league points, 4 points clear of 3rd place Kent. Albeit a bit battered and bruised from a long season, the team looks strong enough to finish off what would be a huge achievement for a side that narrowly avoided relegation to division 3 just two seasons ago.

Six go to Delhi Thursday 19 August 2010

Six go to Delhi The Welsh athletics team for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi was announced today and includes six Cardiff AAC athletes.


The successful ones are Rhys Williams (400mH), Christian Malcolm (100/200m), Joe Thomas (800m), James Thie (1500m), Gareth Warburton (800m) and Bryone Raine (pole vault).


In addition the team management will be led by Cardiff's former international 400m runner Mike Delaney.

Matt Elias ends with a pb Wednesday 18 August 2010

Matt Elias ends with a pb Matt Elias has finally decided to hang up his spikes.

The last race of a fine athletic career was for the club's BAL team on 31 July when Matt ran a personal best time in the 110m Hurdles (actually, it was the first time he had tried this event!) of 15.29 - not bad.

Primarily a 400m hurdler, Matt has gathered an enviable collection of medals from the European Championships and Commonwealth Games and narrowly missed an Olympic medal in Athens in 2004.
