Changes at AGM

The club's Annual General Meeting was held last night, 19th November.

Peter Lane (pictured) will take over from John Penny as chairman and Jeff Kirby is the new President, Paul Darney having stepped down after two years.

Coaches Helen James and Roger Grindle were elected Life Members for their outstanding service over many years and Tony Balmont was elected an Honorary Member for his support and assistance as an official.

Georgina Williams is the new coaching coordinator.

A well attended meeting heard reports on the activities of the club over the past year which was a very good one.

The British League team gained promotion and the UK Young Athletes League team was also triumphant, winning all its matches. There were individual successes, notable amongst which was Simon Lawson's silver medal in the European Junior Championships.

On a typical club night, well over a hundred athletes are regularly training and this is a rising trend that augurs well for the future. The club is very fortunate that there are so many dedicated and enthusiastic coaches and team managers working with and helping these athletes. Thanks are also due to the officers and others for all the hard work that is put in,much of it behind the scenes.
