Jamaul helps Wales to Gold

Jamaul White (pictured) helped Welsh schools to what is thought to be its first ever win in the Schools International Pentathlon held at Kelvin Hall, Glasgow, last Saturday 5th December. Jamaul placed third in the under 18 boys overall competition and along with team mates Paul Bennett, Rhys Williams and Glen Elsdon amassed 9929 points for a convincing team win over England. Cardiff member Tom Bevan was in the under 16 boys Welsh team team and scored 2744 points.

Jamaul's individual performances were: 60mH  8.57;  shot put  10.69m;   200m  22.9;   long jump  5.97m;   800m  2:10.24

Jamaul had competed in the previous year's event in the under 16 boys age group, taking 3rd place in the overall competition.

Tom Bevan was the highest scoring Welsh athlete in his age group, taking 8th place in the overall competition. His individual performances were: 60mH  9.30;   long jump  5.29m;   200m  24.92;   shot put  7.97m;   800m  2:07.19

Both Jamaul and Tom had competed in the Welsh Schools Indoor Combined Events at Cardiff's NIAC on 15th November. Jamaul had set a personal best score of 3332 points which he improved again in Glasgow to 3342.
