Lucozade programme

The Lucozade sports nutrition and testing programme will restart on Monday next 25th October.

The first session will be specifically for designated athletes but will be followed by more general sessions available to any club members interested.

Matt Furber is a sports scientist specialising in nutrition and performance analysis and will be running a series of consultations that can benefit the club’s athletes and coaches. All sessions except the first one will be held in the club room.

The dates are as follows:

Monday, 25th October:  Specific athlete support (by invitation - at UWIC).
Monday, 1st November:  Skinfold/bodyfat assessment (open to any athlete over 16).
Monday, 15th November:  Smartspeed testing/ workshop (more details to follow).
Monday, 29th November:  Mass presentation on nutrition (open to all).
Monday, 13th December:  Smartspeed testing - drop in session (more details to follow).

If you would like to participate in the Skinfold/bodyfat assessment on 1st November, please complete a booking form that will be available in the club room.

Sessions will be held on club nights and will include practical as well as theoretical workshops on topics such as general nutrition, the importance of hydration, recovery from training and competition, strength, competition day planning, supplements, etc.

Matt, who is one of Lucozade Sport’s eight strong sports science team (and who still runs, for Crawley), has been given specific responsibility for four athletic clubs; Cardiff, Swansea, Team Bath and Windsor Slough & Eton. Twenty one other clubs in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland will benefit from the programme.
