Tracy is the new secretary
Sunday 5 December 2010
At the club's Annual General Meeting last Thursday, 2nd December, Tracy Allen (pictured) was elected to the important position of General Secretary.
We wish Tracy well in her new role.
Tracy has been involved with Cardiff AAC for the past five years and her two daughters Natalie and Michelle, who are at Loughborough University, both compete for the club. Her husband, Mark, is a director of Welsh Athletics.
All the other senior positions remained unchanged, with Jeff Kirby as President, Peter Lane as Chairman and Graham Webb as Treasurer all continuing for another year.
In his remarks to the meeting, Peter Lane paid tribute to retiring secretary Debbie Bull and to long serving Kay James for the outstanding contributions they had made to the club over many years. Debbie will continue as team manager of the Natonal Junior League team and I am sure that we have not seen the last of Kay.
Peter also underlined the great success of the past season which has been one of the best for Cardiff AAC for many years. The teams, individual athletes, team managers and coaches have all contributed to this success and to the enhancement of Cardiff's reputation as one of the foremost clubs in Britain.
Treasurer Graham Webb was able to report that, financially, the club had kept its head above water and produced a small surplus but pointed out the ever increasing costs of travelling for club teams. The cost of all club activities is now approaching £30,000 per year, of which members subscriptions contribute less than one third, the remainder of the income coming from the canteen, match fees, donations and miscellaneous fund raising activities. Regrettably, subscriptions will have to be increased as from January by £5.
Organiser Dave Hawthorn made a plea for more members to join the "MAD" 200 club to boost club resources.
In Peter Lane's words the club is "on the up and up" and looking forward to another successful year in 2011.
